Communication Designer Ahmedabad, IN Identity & Type

Building Resilient Brands

Identity systems built to hold their shape — in print, on screen, and five years after handover. Typography does most of the work.

01 — Position

Most brands are not short of ideas. They are short of a grammar — a way of speaking that stays recognisable when the format changes. That is the part I design.

03 — How it goes

Four stages. The first one takes the longest, and it’s the one clients try to skip.

  1. 01

    In the room

Half of what matters never makes it into a brief. It’s in the argument two founders have been having for six months, and in what the floor staff say once nobody senior is listening.

  2. 02

    The sentence

One line the company can repeat from memory. If sales can’t say it on a call without opening the deck, it isn’t finished yet.

  3. 03

    The build

Wordmark, type, colour, grid, motion. Drawn as rules rather than screens — so the thing still holds on a page I’ll never see.

  4. 04

    The handover

Guidelines short enough that people read them. Files named so people find them. Then a team that runs it on Monday without calling me.

04 — About

I’m a communication designer in Ahmedabad. I work on identity systems — the wordmark, the type, the colour, the grid, and the rules that keep them holding together once I’ve left the project.

I studied communication design at GLS Institute of Design, spent two years at Studio Carbon, and have since worked across robotics, networking hardware, cycling and exhibition design. The work usually starts with letterforms: a wordmark that’s built rather than picked, and a type scale that survives contact with a real content team.

The rest of the year I’m generally on a mountain. I lead treks for Indiahikes, did my basic mountaineering course at NIMAS, and have walked Buran Ghati, Pin Bhaba Pass and a few Norwegian routes alone. Both jobs turn out to be the same thing — making a plan other people can follow when you’re not there.
